Calculator policy cheat-sheet

Bring only a model the current circular allows. When in doubt, carry the approved scientific model and check the admit card instructions.

Approved scientific models

  • Casio fx-991EX ClassWiz
  • Casio fx-991ES Plus
  • Casio fx-100MS
  • Casio fx-570ES

Allowed only for BUET and engineering tests where the circular permits a scientific calculator.

Banned everywhere

  • Programmable models such as Casio fx-9860G and fx-5800P
  • Graphing calculators and devices with a graph display
  • Devices with text memory or communication capability
  • Smartphones, smartwatches and any wearable display

DU, Medical and GST strictly ban all calculators, including approved scientific models.

Negative marking & second-timer matrix

A negative marking policy is only shown when it is published. Always re-read the current circular; policies can change between years.

BUET & engineering testsApproved scientific models allowed−0.25 per wrong answer (where the circular applies negative marking)Usually first-timer only; follow the current circular

Marks, penalties and eligibility for repeat candidates are set by each authority. If a value is missing from the official circular, ShikkhaPath shows “unavailable” rather than a guess.
